DIY Mother’s Day Gifts for Kids

DIY – Handprint Tiles

I love crafting. It is one of my favorite things to do. And more importantly, I love crafting things for other people. When I was a kid, I loved making gifts for my mom and dad. And I still love seeing those gifts and gadgets around the house years later. They’re a part of my family identity. Today we are going to make a quick and easy handprint craft for Mother’s Day. It’s a fun little play on tile art your mother or grandmother can put on display at home or at work.

Large 8″ Tile (square or rectangular)
Acrylic Paint
Paint Brush
Glass Pen
Display Easel (optional)

Begin by cleaning the surface of your tile piece. Then paint the surface of your child’s palm. Determine the preferred placement of your handprint, then press the hand down on the tile’s surface. Hold for a moment to make sure the paint was applied evenly. Then set the tile aside to dry.

Once the paint has dried on your tile, use your glass pen to write a special message to you mother. I chose to write A child’s hand touches a Mother’s heart When you decide what you wish to say, write the message on the surface of the tile.

Seal the writing according to the pen’s instructions. typically it requires baking the object in the oven for a short period of tile.

When you’ve finished the sealing process, your present is done. Fine a cute little box to wrap it up in, and your got yourself a great gift for that special woman in your life.
